Wormhole Update May 14, 2011
Posted by rhoagenda in Rho Agenda Updates.trackback
I just got back from Bora Bora where I finished my author edit of Wormhole. It’s now in the hands of my literary agency, Janklow & Nesbit, who are in negotiations with a number of publishers for the Rho Agenda trilogy. As soon as I have an actual publication date, I’ll post it. In the meantime, I’ve begun work on my next novel, currently titled “The Ripper”, which is set before the Rho Agenda and follows my Jack Gregory character through his early days with the CIA and shows how he came to be known as The Ripper.
Hi Richard
Cracking first two books of the Rho Agenda series, I am gutted that I now have to wait for the third installment. read the first book in 4 days, and the second in two, so if the first two are anything to go by it looks like a one day for the third part of the trilogy…
Thanks Paul,
Wormhole is complete. Publication is only waiting on my agent’s negotiations with the big publishing houses to see who gives us the best deal. I’ll post as soon as I know a publication date. I’ll also update my website at http://www.SecondShip.com.
Richard,
Thoroughly enjoyed the first two books of the Rho Agenda. I would love to have Wormhole in my hands now to continue the story, but I’ll patiently wait for publication. Excellent reads.
I appreciate it Joe. Thanks to all of you for your support.
Downloaded the first two for vacation, very good reads, couldn’t put the ‘Kindle’ down! Cant wait for the third..
Thanks
Thanks. I’m after my agent to get with it so we can release Wormhole. In the meantime, even though Wormhole finishes the trilogy, I’m planning out a series of individual novels that follow surviving characters from The Rho Agenda trilogy.
Just wanted to say how assume the first 2 books were. Read them both on the Kindel to a couple of days. Really great on all fronts. Thanks for helping to make my vacation so enjoyable. You have joined the listof my favorite authors.
Thanks
Thanks Allen. I appreciate the support.
Hello Richard,
You are my new favorite Sci-Fi author. I love the first two books and I am tring to wait patiently for the third. I didn’t know that the third book wasn’t available when I started reading the first two books. I’m assuming that it will also be available for my Kindle. I have recommennded you to my friends that read frequently. Please keep the works coming.
Thanks Debra,
I really appreciate all of you that take the trouble to track down my Blog and comment.
Best,
Richard
Stumbled on Rho Agenda, Book One accidentally while browsing Amazon books for my kindle. Loved book one, so immediately purchased book two and am reading it now. I will anxiously await book three. Thank you for these great books.
I’m your biggest fan Mr. Phillips. I love your novels and I can’t waint until the third book drops. I’m really, really looking forward to it. Keep up the great sci-fy!
Thanks Shirl. I’ve just agreed to a contract with a major publishing house (they will be republishing and releasing all three novels). As soon as I know the publication date I’ll post it here and on my website …www.SecondShip.com
Richard,
I finished book One in your series and am now reading the second book. They are by far the best science fiction I have read in years Asimov, Clark, Heinlein, Herbert, and many other authors from the 50’s and 60’s put out by far the best science fiction. After reading “The Second Ship” I rate you up their with them!!! Having lived in The Land of Enchantment”, with friends in Los Alamos, I can easily envision the beauty and wonder of that part of God’s Country in your writing. My wife and I now live in Phoenix and we look forward to visiting your wife’s eatery.
Thanks Charles. I know everybody is anxiously awaiting the publication of Wormhole, and I am too. The sequence is going to go something like this. My new publisher wants to have their editor go at each of the three novels while they design the new cover art. Then they will move to simultaneous hardback, paperback, and ebook publication. That’s all I know at this point but will keep you all informed as I find out more.
Although I am just another among the throng of Rho Agenda ethusiasts, I am really impressed with the application of scientific principles, the detail and depth of explanation of existing forces, and the explanations of theoretical possibilities. All these factors combine to make the events in the stories believable and all that more enjoyable. Although surprised at the sprinkling of grammatical errors here and there, I’m overwhelmed with the author’s ability to draw the reader (including me) into the characters and storyline. Loose ends, like worried and distraught parents, tug at me a bit, but maybe “Wormhole” ties it up nicely. Looking forward to the ebook. Thank you for your stories Mr. Phillips. – Rick
Rick,
I appreciate the feedback. Here’s the latest update on where I stand with contract work between Janklow & Nesbit (my literary agency) and the publishing house I’ve agreed to sign with. The publisher sent over a contract, my agencies attorneys reviewed it and made a few changes, now the publisher’s attorneys are reviewing those changes. As soon as all that gets settled, then the series will be re-released (both in print and in all the eBook formats) under a new label. The publisher will have one of their editors review each of the novels, then I’ll review their changes, then it’ll go to publication. In the meantime, they have the manuscripts and I’m hard at work on my next novel.
I’m really looking forward to Wormhole.
I hope your publisher won’t do the ANNOYING geographical restriction thing! I live in New Zealand and will be gutted if I can’t get it here because of the crazy country restrictions some publishers have.
Thanks Bill,
New Zealand is on my wife, Carol’s, and my bucket list. I’ll look you up when we get down that way.
That would be great! I’m in Wellington if you visit.
I would like more recent news about when wormhole will be available as an ebook. I want to read all three consecutively. I hope I won’t have to wait too much longer. Thank you.
Okay. Here’s the scoop. The attorneys and my agency, Janklow & Nesbit, are currently arguing over final contract wording with the publisher’s attorneys. Specifically, this involves derivative rights such as TV and movie rights. Hopefully, this will be resolved in the near future. I’ll let you know.
I just finished the first two Rho Adjenda books and was disappointed that book # 3 was not in my Kindle. 😦 Patience is a virtue I lack but have no choice. Am looking forward to # 3 coming out soon. I pray it is available on Kindle. Also, I thought it would make an excellent movie or TV series. Great work.
Much love,
Arliss
PS I might just buy the trilogy in book form to share with my friends when it is all out together.
Negotiate already! I’ve been waiting…first two were fantastic. Want to reread before Wormhole but not too long before I can reach the end. Keep up the good work…best series in years!
yea! lets go! i wanna know what happens!!!!!!
We are all still waiting. What’s up with negotiations? Please step in and get this resolved.
We are all still waiting. Please step in and get the ball rolling with these negotiations.
For a limited time, leading up to final contract signing, after which the manuscript goes to my publisher, I am enlisting the help of fans of my blog in providing early reader feedback on Wormhole. If you would like to participate in my early reader feedback program I can send a pre-edited draft version of Wormhole to your kindle or a pdf formatted version to your other ebook reader. In return, I just ask that you not share it with others and that you give me your general impressions of the novel (my editor will take care of the actual edit). If you have a real kindle device, I can send it directly to that. It won’t
work with the kindle app though.
1. Go to the Manage Your Kindle page on Amazon.com
a. Click on the link on the left hand side that says Personal Document Settings
b. Add my email account to the Approved Personal Document E-mail List(richard.phillips@secondship.net)
2. Click on the Manage Your Devices link on the left
a. Send me the Kindle E-mail Address for your kindle (something@kindle.com).
It will end in @kindle.com
Let me know if you’re interested via my email at Richard.Phillips@secondship.net
Best,
Richard
Hi Richard,
Like a lot of others on here i would like to congratulate you on the first two books of the rhoagenda trillogy.
Great science fiction, i cant wait for the third book .
Thank you for the great read.
Kind regards
Jeff
Thanks Jeff. I’m chomping at the bit to get Wormhole officially published. I think once I’m able to reveal the publisher it’ll be clear why this process has taken such a long time to get the contract right. I’m looking forward to posting a detailed commentary on this in the near future.
I hope there will be a version of “Wormhole” available for iBooks. The platform I read the first two books of the Rho agenda, and have awaited the next book ad nauseam.
Can’t wait for it to be published for my Kindle via Amazon.com. I so enjoyed the Rho Agenda books 1&2 that I’m excited to read the “Wormhole”. Thanks for finishing it.
Hi Richard
Do you think there is a chance that Wormhole will be out by Christmas? Not knowing how your contract negotiations are going and how long your new publisher will take to do it’s editing is frustrating. Hoping it will be done by at least the first quarter of 2012.
Good luck on your new book “The Ripper”.

You sent me the pre-edited draft last week and all I can say is WOW! I could not put it down. My wife was a little irked that I was reading it at the dinner table but some flowers should fix that small inconvenience. I’m not sure what they (the editors) plan on editing because I would not change a thing.
Thanks for a thoroughly enjoyable series.
Thanks Matt. Glad you enjoyed it.
Wormhole!
I finished the draft within four days of your sending it. Thrilling and demanding as the previous books of the RHO Agenda. Tough to put down to get some sleep. Hope I never run into a megalomaniac as hell bent on their purpose as your villain, Dr. Stephenson. I have met some crazies at the Lab but none so resolute.
The draft you provided will be replaced in my iBook library when it is released.
Thank you so very much for the preview.
Great. Happy Holidays.
Wormhole WOW, I just finished the book, what an ending. I give it 5 stars! (Edited to remove spoiler) I love your writing and will be looking for more books by you. I like your style, never a dull moment, story never drags and fiction that is believable. I will be buying the book when released so I can read it again.
Glad you enjoyed it Michael. Happy New Year.
Mr. Phillips,
Thanks again for letting me read your latest book Wormhole. What an ending to your trilogy! As a very big SF fan — awesome!
I promised to provide some comments — I only have a few minor corrections to keep references current. You reference NIMA. NIMA became the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) in 2003. Additional, when you reference Global Hawk – the Ground Control Station is technically the Global Hawk Ground Segment which consists of the Launch and Recovery Element (LRE) and the Mission Control Element (MCE), Imagery supporting a mission is passed to the MCE and then usually forwarded to a Processing, Exploitation and Dissemenation (PED) for analysis and reporting.
Thanks again — worth the wait!
Ed
Thanks Ed. Excellent catches there. I’ll make sure I drop in those fixes before going final.
Mr. Phiilips,
I just found this website.I could not put down the first 2 installments of the RHO Agenda. Is the pre-edited version still availabile?
Thanks
Joe
You sure can still get it Joe. Just add my email address … richard.phillips@secondship.net … to your approved senders list on Amazon’s manage your kindle page, then send me your kindle’s or kindle app’s email address and I’ll send Wormhole directly to your device.
Richard, I too would appreciate a copy of the Wormhole for my kindle @ address: dcalexander_65@Kindle.com. I added your email address to my approved senders list on Amazon. I have been waiting patiently for a copy of the saga; I read the first two agenda books in 2 days. Thank you in advanced.
Hi Richard, love both books so far, cant wait for the third, since I cant wait, lol, if you could send me a copy that would be great.
eXstnZ@Kindle.com
Thank You
Ill even buy it when its published.
Dear Richard:
The Rho Agenda was the first book I read on the kindle and I really enjoyed it. I quickly read the second and then was left at the edge of a cliff where I have been somewhat patiently waiting. I kinda thought the last book would be out a year ago, but it seems to keep slipping. Can you send a draft to my kindle directly at awinchester@kindle.com? I added you to the senders list…
Thanks so much
Alan
Sent.
I must say that Wormhole was the best book I have read in a long time! I think that you have done an awesome job on this book. However because I enjoyed it so much I feel inclined to request that you write another book in this same series.
Thanks for allowing me to take part in reading the book before its public. I have been waiting so long for this book and I finished it in 3 days, which means I got little else done while glued to it. I can’t wait for it to come out for sale so I can purchase it and add it to my collection.
Many Thanks,
Jose
Glad you enjoyed it. Although this ends The Rho Agenda trilogy, I do plan some novels to follow up on the surviving characters and the changed world in which they find themselves.
Hi Richard. Great books and eagerly awaiting the release of Wormhole. And nice to be able to interact directly with the author!! As per previous posters, I’ve added you to my Kindle device and would love to receive a copy of Wormhole.
david.barrett_13@Kindle.com
Kind regards, Dave.
Thanks Dave. I just sent it. Today is probably the last day in my early reader feedback program so you managed to make it in under the wire. Once I sign the contract then my publisher owns the novels and I’ll have to comply with their guidelines … I’m expecting to get it today or tomorrow.
Richard
Hey Richard! Thanks for letting me read wormhole!!! What a great trilogy!!! I was actually sad for certain turns and twists but your writing was excellent! Me being greedy, I wish that there were more stories to read, ur imagination and the way u presented them
On “paper” made it extremely easy to visualize in my mind. I did, initially, get a little confused with the back and forth “through the eyes” segments near the ending…don’t know if there is a better way to present that? Or maybe it was just me, I’m not sure…i guess it was because I was reading expecting to “keep reading straight through” and then it just abruptly tossed me back a few times, ya know? But being that I live in md, I def connected more with the story since I could visualize where people where in connection to landmarks and whatnot… Thanks for letting my enjoy your trilogy, and I also wanted to let you know that I will purchase the novel once it is published because I would like to support you…I mean u def don’t do this for free, and with how much I enjoyed it, it is worth whatever u charge for it. Where else can I get hours upon hours of entertainment for less then 20$?
So, thanks again, and I can’t wait to read anything else you may write!!! Keep up the awesome work!
Thanks Robert. Glad you liked it.
Well folks, I just signed the contract with 47 North so I will no longer be able to offer my early reader feedback program. I look forward to the official publication of the trilogy and thank you to all my early readers for the feedback. I think you’ll find it improved the final product.
Best,
Richard
Congratulations.
Hope you have continued success in your writing career.
Jim
Thanks Jim.
Hi Richard,
Loved the Second Ship, unhappy that I missed the early reader prog as its always difficult to pick up on trilogy parts months down the line.
Any idea when Wormhole will be published and will it and second ship come out at the same time or will there be a long gap between them, thus prolonging my pain!!!
Rob G, Sussex UK
Hello – I thought I had responded already, but I guess not. Thank you so much for the preview edition of Wormhole – I read the first two books of the series again so everything was fresh in my mind, then I read Wormhole. I have to say I LOVED the final book of the trilogy. Don’t change a thing – it is excellent! Congrats on an excellent 3rd book of the trilogy; I will certainly be keeping an eye out for more of your work in the future.
looking forward to book three. Hope in the future there will be more books about human/alien technology interaction.
A heck of a great series.
The Ripper sounds like a good one too.
Thanks James. I have now finished working with the 47 North team on all the developmental edits and copy edits for the series and have approved two of the three covers. We should have the third and final cover out the door in the next few days. In addition to my Ripper prequel tentatively titled “Once Dead”, I plan on doing a couple more novels to follow up on characters from the Rho Agenda and the changed world in which they find themselves operating.
Best,
Richard
” I plan on doing a couple more novels to follow up on characters from the Rho Agenda and the changed world in which they find themselves operating.”
Very happy to hear – love this series!
The pace should pick up now that I’m almost done with my part of the edits and approvals for final release.
The potential of carrying the story forward is something I would appreciate greatly. Thanks and I hope the story progression come easy for you.
looking forward to your next book, what ever it’s about. Mike McMullen
Glad to hear it. I appreciate that.
Richard
