On October 29th, 2019, I gave a ten-minute speech to the Ahwatukee Toastmasters club about how to write a bestseller. I am pleased to provide you the YouTube link to that talk.

Enjoy,

Richard

Thanks for sharing this. Defeating the inner critic and finishing what you start is something a lot of creatives struggle with. I can totally relate to the temptation of constantly re-working because you’ve gotten better throughout the course of creating a draft. But as you pointed out, it’s just a stall tactic; it’s a trap. Because you can’t fail if you don’t finish, right? The truth is, not finishing is the real failure. The only failure. Like the old saying, the only stupid question is the one that goes unasked. Great advice and inspiration for my own projects! Kudos to your wife for making you “finish the damn book” – we’re all glad you did. 🙂

Thanks Paul. Glad you enjoyed it. I’ll tell Carol you sent kudos her way.
Best,
Richard

Hey there – USNA ’90 guy here who really enjoyed the Rho series. Read the first three twice and have shared with others. Really fun. Congratulations on your success and thank you for sharing your gift of story-telling. Loved your talk … great message. Giving me the boost to tackle my little Maine winter hike tomorrow morning! Best wishes and congratulations.

Hi Joe,
Love my Naval Academy buddies and admire your grit in braving the Maine winter. I am surviving the Phoenix winter in true Army Ranger fashion. I am glad you enjoyed my Rho Agenda novels. As soon as I finish the 6th and last book in my epic fantasy series (The Endarian Prophecy) in April, I plan on writing a spinoff SciFi novel on one of my Rho Agenda characters.
Best,
Richard
